Growing Together

Ushering into the new millennium, the Islamic Shia Ithnashari Jamaat of Toronto (ISIJ), has grown to a size never imagined by its founding members. With a community of thirty heads a generation ago, we have now grown to over 4,500 people today.

ISIJ has now become a fully fledged religious and social organization which runs and supports many programs and services that caters to all aspects of the community. In sharing the vision with its members and advocating growing together, ISIJ has accomplished many initiatives such as:

Ja'ffari Islamic Housing Corporation. A project that comprises a total of 170 units and provides rental housing to approximately 600 individuals.
As Sadiq Islamic Schools. With its inauguration in 1994, the existing structure of 38,000 sq. ft. at 9000 Bathurst continues to house As Sadiq Islamic School, a private establishment providing mainstream and Islamic education which currently has an enrollment of over 180 students providing education up to grade 8.

Sharing the Vision

On May 4th 1994, the community took a very bold and impressive step forward and purchased 28 acres of land located at 9000 Bathurst, on the outskirts of Toronto for Cdn$ 2.5 million. The Islamic Education and Community Centre (IECC) once developed will allow us to better accommodate the growing needs and aspirations of the expanding community.
